As a professional expedition leader, I have spent the better part of the last decade in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. I have experienced the clean, remote lakes and forests across every Minnesota season, from frozen to mosquito bites and back to frozen again. 

I have loved it, I have hated it, and I would never trade it. I certainly would never risk losing it. That’s why I need you to help protect the Boundary Waters Wilderness by making a TRIPLE MATCHED gift today.

I love living and working here on the edge of the Boundary Waters. While our region is most famous for summer activities, these lakes and woods are just as much alive in winter. 

After it snows, we go ice fishing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, skiing, and winter camping. The Boundary Waters is a major driver of the tourism economy that generates over $900 million in revenue annually and sustains 17,000 jobs, which support local families and businesses. 

And of course our region is well known for wildlife. Did you know that Northern Minnesota is the last stronghold of the Gray Wolf in the lower 48 states? Lynx, bobcats, moose, pine martens, and beavers are other awesome mammals found throughout our northwoods. Black bears roam the forest and graze on the robust blueberry crops in July. Hunters pursue whitetail deer and grouse in autumn, and visitors are captivated by the haunting call of a loon streaming across a quiet lake. These Boundary Waters experiences are unforgettable. 

Sulfide-ore copper mining along the waterways that lead into and through the heart of the wilderness would jeopardize all of this.
