Dear Supporter,
Within the next FEW DAYS, parliament will have a final vote on women’s ability to access at-home early medical abortion. If we do not secure the support of the majority of MPs, at-home early medical abortion care will become a criminal offence in England on 29^th August.

Last month, the government shamefully rejected calls from medical bodies, women’s rights charities, and those working to end violence against women – and wilfully ignored clinical evidence – by announcing that at-home early medical abortion care would be recriminalized in England from 29th August 2022.
Any removal will require every woman – no matter her health needs, problems, or safeguarding concerns – to attend a clinic or hospital for an abortion. There will be no legal abortion care available to women who are unable to attend a clinic, including those who are in abusive relationships and cannot travel for an appointment for fear their partner would discover their pregnancy, and those caring for disabled relatives.
Telemedical abortion care has been used by 150,000 women since April 2020 in England, Wales, and Scotland. Numerous clinical studies – including the largest study of telemedical abortion care in the world – have found it to be safe, effective, accessible, and preferred by women. Yet for entirely political reasons, the government want to scrap women’s ability to access at-home early medical abortion care.

Within the next 3 days, there will be a final vote in the House of Commons that will determine the future of women’s ability to access safe, effective, at-home early medical abortion care.
We know that those opposed to abortion are already lobbying MPs. We need the pro-choice majority to make their voice heard – or access to this service will be removed forever.
Please take 1 minute to email your MP. There is a template here ([link removed]) , but please feel free to add a personal message – this can help to make MPs take notice!
Thank you, as always, for your support for access to abortion care.
Best Wishes,
BPAS
