Hi John,

Our elected leaders are tone-deaf when it comes to cannabis in North Carolina. Currently, the State Legislature is debating the merits of hemp cigarettes and whether or not they should be taxed and regulated.

Meanwhile, we have a multi-million-dollar black marijuana market that criminalizes the sale and possession of cannabis – often snaring young minority men in our state’s legal system.

The debate should be about legalizing cannabis and providing controlled access to taxed and regulated cannabis through our existing ABC system. Local counties and communities will decide if they want to legalize.

Taxing cannabis would generate more than $450 million a year to help working families take care of their aging parents and expand critical community-based behavioral health programs.

It’s the right time. It’s the right thing to do for North Carolina.

I’m proud to be a progressive, common-sense Democrat leading on new issues that will impact the daily lives of our citizens.

Will you join me? Your $25 donation today will help us deliver our message to voters all across North Carolina. It’s time to stand up for controlled cannabis – your help will make a big difference!
