COVID-19 Volunteering Recognition

If you know someone who volunteered their time in response to COVID-19, please tell us about them by completing the form below. We just need a little information about the volunteer to make sure we can contact them. They will then be entered into a lottery for an invitation to a special event in their county recognising COVID-19 volunteers during National Volunteering Week (16th – 22nd May).

National Volunteering Week 2022

Theme announced for NVW 2022

National Volunteering Week 2022 will take place from 16th - 22nd May. This year's theme is Celebrate and Reconnect. We'll be celebrating volunteers across the country as we reflect on the last few years and look towards a brighter future. We'll also be celebrating the connection that volunteering provides whether that's within our communities or between individuals.

Each day will have a different mini theme - stay tuned for for information in the coming weeks!

Census 2022 - Volunteering Question

Following a successful lobbying campaign back in 2019, there will be a question on volunteering on the Census for the first time since 2006! This is a unique opportunity to get concrete data on volunteers in Ireland - how many there are, what they do and where they do it. The data will help inform what and where support for volunteering is needed in our communities.

But we need your help! As you know, many people who volunteer don't consider themselves volunteers. It's vital we encourage everyone who volunteers to mark the relevant box on question 24 so we can get a real picture of volunteering in Ireland today. So if you are a volunteer or you know a volunteer, help us spread the word before Sunday 3rd April!

Voluntary response to Ukraine

As Ireland continues to welcome refugees from Ukraine, Community Volunteers across the country have been supporting our national response in a variety of ways. From helping new arrivals at ports and reception centres to collecting and delivering donations, volunteers have once again shown their generosity and dedication.
