I’m emailing today to ask you to make a $3 contribution to our campaign ahead of this week’s official FEC fundraising deadline. So, why is this deadline such a big deal?

On March 31 — just 4 days from now — we close the books on our Q1 fundraising numbers. After that, we’re legally required to publicly report how much money we’ve raised so far in 2022, and how many contributions make up that total.

It’s that second number that I care about most — the one that shows how many people from coast to coast stand with our progressive movement, and the values and ideas that we fight for every day.

When we share these numbers, everyone from our allies in the progressive movement to our enemies in the fossil fuel lobby will be watching. They’ll all be checking to see if our momentum has slowed, or if we have the kind of support that will lead to victories all across the country.

Now, as you may already know, the vast majority of the contributions we receive come from small-dollar, grassroots donors chipping in $5, $10, or $25 at a time.

I’m incredibly proud of that fact, and I hope you are too — but the truth is, funding a movement that way means we need a LOT of people standing with us, especially when we’re up against the likes of the fossil fuel giants and the dark money super PACs. So I have to ask, especially today:
