I’m reaching out with an update on our race and my work in Congress. But first, I wanted to let you know that we have an important federal fundraising deadline on March 31st, and I’d be so appreciative if you are able to chip in (you can do so with this link).
Since the beginning of the year, I’ve introduced several pieces of legislation, including a bill to lower taxes for middle class families, bipartisan bills to reduce carbon emissions, and a bill to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks.
On the campaign trail, we’re already reaching voters through phone banking and door-knocking, and our efforts are going to ramp up this spring. Because of redistricting, nearly 70% of the voters in CA-47 are new to me, so we have serious ground to cover. This district is split evenly between registered Democrats and Republicans, so we have to work hard to earn the votes of swing voters and turnout our supporters.
Of course, all of this takes money. Fundraising is a reality of running for Congress, and because I don’t take corporate PAC or lobbyist money, I rely on grassroots donors like you. Unfortunately, this race could end up being one of the most expensive House races of 2022. That’s because running here in Orange County simply is more expensive than running in other parts of the country. We’re in the second most expensive TV media market in the country, so running our TV ads takes millions.
