Run for Something

Hi there --

It's Wednesday. The national news is a bummer. Here are two stories you almost certainly missed:

A year ago, Lina Hidalgo won her long-shot race for Harris County Judge. Now she's using her position and power to make massive improvements to her community, including a focus on early childhood education:

“Many, many times during the campaign folks sat across from me and tried to convive me that the role of the county judge was about roads and bridges,” she said in a press conference following the address. “We have a budget that tops $5 billion. That’s more than bridge money.”

Meanwhile, in Indiana, RFS alum Ilana Stonebraker is being recognized for mentoring the new class of women candidates in Indiana.

“She connected me with the right people and it made my life a lot easier, and she showed me campaign etiquette and what to do, what not to do, what to post, what not to post,” Kang said. “She taught me how to door-knock. So, truly very grateful for that.”

The work we're doing across the country isn't just about the races we win -- it's about giving young progressives the chance to be leaders in their communities. Today, make an investment toward a future where women like Lina and Ilana are the norm in politics:
