We are currently facing an unprecedented five-alarm fire in the struggle for women’s healthcare, and we absolutely cannot remain silent.
That’s why I introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act and am calling on the Senate to pass it. We need to protect access to safe and legal abortion for all women in this country – no matter where they live. In Alabama, it’s now a felony to provide abortion care – punishable with jail time. In Georgia, women who receive an abortion could be subject to capital punishment if the law there is allowed to take effect. And in Missouri, the only Planned Parenthood clinic is on the brink of closing unless the courts order the state to renew its license.
Roe v. Wade made it clear, nearly 50 years ago, that women have a constitutional right to make their own healthcare decisions, and that those decisions should only ever be between a woman and her doctor. Never a lawmaker. Never a President.
But President Trump is packing our courts at every level with extremist judges who will do everything they can to erode women’s basic human rights. That’s why I’m fighting back as hard as ever against these unconstitutional attacks on women and their reproductive rights, and I’m counting on you to stand with me:
