We’re almost a quarter of the way through 2022 so I wanted to take a moment and explain why our work in the months ahead is so important.

On average, the president’s party typically loses 26 seats in the House and 4 seats in the Senate during the midterm elections. With our 5-seat advantage in the House and 1-seat Senate majority, we’ll have to beat the odds and start our preparation now.

We cannot afford to lose even one seat in the Senate. Because if the GOP reclaims control of the Senate and reinstates Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader, the next two years of President Biden’s term will be spoiled with partisan gridlock, dysfunction, and little to no progress for the American people. Additionally, the GOP will do everything they can to undo all of the progress we’ve accomplished since President Biden stepped foot in the White House.

We can’t let that happen. We need to help my Senate colleagues like Rev. Raphael Warnock in Georgia and incredible challengers like Charles Booker in Kentucky, Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin, and Val Demings in Florida win. And we need to show the GOP that the majority of Americans believe in our work building a better tomorrow and a government that works for everyone — not just the wealthiest few at the top.
