John,
Food & Water Action is excited to support climate champion Summer Lee in her race for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional district. That’s why we’re asking you to join us to support Summer by writing handwritten notes to voters – if you’ve got a pen and some time, you can help put a climate champion in Congress!

Summer has been a champion on climate and environmental justice since we helped her get elected as a State Representative in 2018. Back then, she ran against a 20-year incumbent because he wasn’t doing enough to protect the community from a proposed fracking well. Summer won that election, then fought with us until that fracking well was defeated last year.1
Now, Summer’s running for Congress. If she wins, she’ll be just as strong an ally, except she’ll be fighting for us on the national stage. This is the most important primary election for the climate movement in 2022. To help her win, we’re writing letters to Pittsburgh voters who we think have voted for Summer in the past, to remind them to vote for Summer in the upcoming primary election. You can help by volunteering with Food & Water Action.

For too long, families in and around Pittsburgh have been forced to sacrifice their health for the nation’s economic progress. Cokeworks pollute the air; fracking has given rise to cancer clusters.2 Summer is leading a movement to create a new future for the region, with a Green New Deal that will stop fracking and bring new sustainable jobs.
When a friend runs for Congress, you write letters for them. Summer has support from a broad coalition: in the race, she’s the union candidate, the climate candidate, and the civil rights candidate. She’ll need all of us to win this election. You can help by joining us to write letters.

Getting set up to write letters is easy. Once you sign up, we’ll send you everything you need, and we’ll walk you through how to do it. Our goal is to write 5,000 letters to voters in support of Summer. We’ll get there one letter at a time. Help us get to that goal by grabbing your first list of 20 voters.
