Dear Reader,

I first came to PublicSource as a reader. Their stories, particularly the investigative pieces ([link removed]) , resonated with me as well as their approach: listen, investigate and report on stories for a better Pittsburgh.

I am inspired by the purpose of journalism in the truest form — a free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough. It’s the bedrock of democracy. So the idea of a nonprofit newsroom in my community that provides public-service journalism rooted in facts, diverse voices and pursuit of transparency is invaluable.

I joined the PublicSource board of directors because of the service that PublicSource provides to the region. Providing nonpartisan, nonprofit news in a time when divisive sensationalism has become the norm is bold and necessary.

That’s why the work of PublicSource matters to me. They listen to people who often go unheard and push for accountability. I believe this is how we can challenge the status quo and work toward change for the better, and for all. I see my monthly recurring donation to PublicSource as part of my commitment to this community.

As one of the journalists I admire most once suggested, “Reward good journalism by reading it.” I thank you for rewarding PublicSource by reading and now ask you to take that support one step farther.
