In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a donation toward our first end-of-quarter goal of 2022. But first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why this request is so important, especially today.

At the end of this month, our team will compile a report detailing our campaign’s finances to send to the Federal Election Commission. Shortly after, that report will be made public for everyone to see — an important measure to keep politicians honest about how much they’ve raised, and where it’s coming from.

John, I’m always so proud of our FEC reports and what they say about our campaign — not only how much we’ve raised, but more importantly, how many folks are fighting for change right along with us.

But to be honest, this deadline makes me a little nervous, too. You see, this is the first time our numbers will go public this year, and it’s the first snapshot folks will get of our team after we launched our reelection campaign earlier this month.

With six Republican opponents in this race, coming up short of our goal could give them the impression that our team isn’t prepared to protect this seat, and the right-wing attacks could start raining in on our campaign.

So John, that’s why I’m personally asking: Will you chip in to help us meet our end-of-quarter target and report the strongest numbers possible to the FEC? Anything you can chip in means the world to me.
