Since our last check-in, several Republicans decided to show
their true colors by attacking President Biden with Putin’s
propaganda and belittling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Recently, Georgia GOP Chair David Shafer tweeted a critique of
President Biden for opposing Russian propaganda. That’s right.
Russia introduced a United Nations Resolution designed to spread
disinformation, the Biden administration opposed it, and then David
Shafer attacked Biden for it. Shafer claims the President fell victim
to Putin’s trap.

This behavior is outlandish, and it needs to stop. Can you rush a

Last month, Shafer testified before the January 6th Committee,
saying that the Trump campaign orchestrated the “fake elector”
scheme to try to overturn President Biden’s victory in Georgia. Did
Trump also direct David to prop up Putin and attack Biden?

But John, what Republican Congressman
Madison Cawthorn said might have been worse. He went after the
Ukrainian president, saying, “Zelensky is a thug,” and calling the
Ukrainian government “incredibly evil.” It’s hard to take Cawthorn
seriously when all he’s concerned with is maximizing shock value.
Still, his words are incredibly harmful while Russia is invading Ukraine
and killing civilians.

This type of rhetoric has seeped its way into the U.S. House via
members like Madison Cawthorn and Marjorie Taylor Greene. It’s not
just disruptive – it’s destructive. The Putin wing of the Republican Party
is growing louder, and we need to maintain our Democratic majority to
keep them from taking control.
