I wanted to make sure you saw Michael’s email. A new report brought more details about how the Medicare privatization scheme that the Trump administration put into motion works, and how one Medicare for All advocate escaped it and blew the whistle.
You shouldn’t have to be a health care policy analyst to be able to keep your traditional Medicare. We all work throughout our lives with a promise that Medicare will be there when we retire. This privatization program is a betrayal of that promise.

A new report from The Lever1 just revealed how the stealth Medicare privatization scheme is working, and how 350,000 seniors have found themselves enrolled in privatized Medicare plans without their consent.
This exposé shows the damage that the DCE/REACH scheme, which began under the Trump administration and was re-named without reform under the Biden administration, has already done to the Medicare system. While traditional Medicare plans have overhead of just 2 percent, investor filings brag that between 13 and 30 percent of the money corporate Medicare plans charge goes directly into profits.
Any form of outsourcing Medicare to private insurers results in higher costs for worse service. President Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra must overrule the corporate bureaucrats who are forcing this program on seniors.

The report shows for the first time how REACH ensnares seniors without their knowledge. First, a Medicare patient visits their doctor’s office for a routine exam―or even a Covid vaccine. Then, if that doctor has enrolled in a DCE program, patients can be funneled back into the web of corporate bureaucracy that they thought they escaped when they turned 65 and enrolled in traditional Medicare.
This was shameful under the Trump administration, but it’s truly shocking that it has continued under President Biden. The Trump administration was full of appointees from Louis DeJoy to Jared Kushner that sought to sell off key parts of American infrastructure for corporate profits. The Biden administration must do better, by ending this program once and for all!
Everywhere private corporations have infiltrated our health care system, costs have gone up and health outcomes have gone down. Medicare has been a success over the past half-century because it puts patients first, not profits. We cannot let that change.
