Fellow Conservative,
This week the House was out of session and the Senate Judiciary Committee held hearings on Biden’s radical pick for the Supreme Court. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson proved herself to be everything we’ve been saying—an activist judge with radical views. More on that later.
First, let’s cover a few important conservative wins that came to us from state governments.
Winning in the States!
At a time when the federal government is controlled by Leftists, state legislatures offer a critical avenue for implementing conservative policy priorities.
The following list is not exhaustive—conservatives are accomplishing a lot—but we wanted to highlight some wins to show what’s capable when the grassroots get involved.
- Utah enacted two laws to strengthen election integrity. SB 219 bans private funding of election offices (or “Zuck Bucks”) and HB 313 strengthens voter ID requirements.
And a special “thank you” to Heritage Action Sentinels Arturo Morales-Llan and Richard Knapp who diligently worked with legislators and their communities in support of these bills. They joined the Governor for the signing ceremony (see picture below)!
- The Arizona legislature passed three separate bills to defend life, preserve womens’ sports, and secure elections. SB 1164 strengthens protections for the unborn by banning abortions after 15 weeks, SB 1165 protects women’s athletics by ensuring biological men can’t compete with them, and HB 2492 will require proof of citizenship to vote. We urge Governor Ducey to sign these bills into law as soon as possible!
- Kentucky ensures the administration of elections are funded by the people, and not billionaires with a political agenda. It’s important that the administration of elections remains non-partisan. HB 301, which became law this week, makes sure that billionaires and special interests can’t tilt the scales by directly funding the government’s election operations.
KBJ Can’t Define “Woman”
Ketanji Brown Jackson –– Biden’s pick for the Supreme Court –– couldn’t answer the simplest question from Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) during the confirmation hearings this week.
Blackburn asked <[link removed]>, “Can you provide a definition for the word woman?”
Judge Jackson answered, “I can’t.”
It’s absurd to think that Jackson would be qualified to rule on the meaning of words in the Constitution when she can’t even give the meaning of the word “woman.”
This short exchange illustrates everything that’s wrong with the Left’s view of judges, the law, and the Constitution. Activist judges like Ketanji Brown Jackson disregard a Constitutionalist approach where words actually have meaning.
The Left believes in a “Living Constitution,” where the meaning of words can be changed by activist judges to arrive at a decision that aligns with their own personal beliefs—and disregards the plain meaning of words.
For the radical Left, gender is fluid and so is the meaning of the words in our Constitution.
Ketanji Brown Jackson is an activist judge, and is utterly unqualified to sit on the Supreme Court.
Over 10,000 Heritage Action activists called their senators this week to oppose Jackson’s confirmation.

There’s more…
Ketanji Brown Jackson also couldn’t defend her judicial record of lenient sentencings for pedophiles and sex offenders. She even got called out by Senator Josh Hawley <[link removed]> for describing an 18-year old pedophile and his 8-year old victims as “peers.”
In no way are 18-year olds and 8-year olds peers. Not in school. Not in sports. And certainly not in cases of sexual abuse.
KBJ is a liberal activist who is soft on crime and apologizes to criminals. Her nomination by Biden is simply an extension of the radical Left’s pro-criminal agenda:
- Joe Biden won’t secure our border.
- Liberal District Attorneys won’t lock up criminals and crime rates are soaring.
- And next week in Congress, Democrats plan to vote on a bill to legalize marijuana and release thousands upon thousands of criminals from jail.
Our cities and neighborhoods aren’t safe with Liberals in charge.
Heritage Action to Congress: Unleash American Energy
Congress is considering measures to ban energy imports from Russia. And while Putin is certainly no friend to American interests, focusing solely on Putin—without also considering the needs of Americans—is a recipe for bad policy.
In a statement to Congress this week <[link removed]>, Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson said,
“While Americans are crushed by soaring energy and food prices, Washington fiddles.
Gas prices recently hit an all-time record of over $4.43 per gallon <[link removed]>, up from $2.53 when Joe Biden took office. Meanwhile, Congress is preparing a package of measures including oil bans and tariffs that would, by their own admission, cause energy prices to skyrocket for American consumers.
While decoupling from Russia and punishing them for their invasion of Ukraine should be a top priority for Congress, conservatives should demand that any Russian energy ban is coupled with an equally impactful set of measures to undo the damage of Biden’s America Last energy policy. Unleashing American energy production would shield working Americans from the effect of skyrocketing energy prices while also increasing our own national security. Without those measures, an energy ban would hurt Americans more than Russians while doing little to affect the situation in Ukraine. Deciding between anti-Russia and pro-America measures is a false choice.
Conservatives should reject bans on Russian energy unless the bans are accompanied by measures to unleash American energy production and support Americans both on the job and at the pump. It’s long past time to put American energy first.”
