Did you watch the Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson hearings?
Despite the historic nature of this nomination, Republicans chose to use the moment to launch ugly attacks on a talented and exceptionally qualified Black woman – a dynamic we've seen all too often in the past. They were badgering, interrupting, misrepresenting, hypocritical and sometimes just plain factually wrong. It was a sad and sickening performance (God bless Senator Cory Booker for his morale boost for her and moral reset for the committee).

Then, they called as a witness against her a guy whose organization sent robocalls calling for people to march on the Capitol on Jan. 6 and who, in the committee hearing, refused to acknowledge Joe Biden as the “duly elected and lawfully serving President of the United States.”
These are the people now carrying the party banner of Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower. Something has gone badly wrong.
Now, think about this: If Republicans win in November, one of these characters could become Chairman of the Judiciary Committee! Imagine one of them with the gavel.
