Team — I made a very difficult decision this month.

It’s clear that with Republicans having more than $200 million to pour into Wisconsin and Ron Johnson already flooding the airwaves with his own campaign ads, we would need to fight back earlier than any of us had anticipated.

So I approved an ambitious paid media plan that would get us up on TV with our own ads immediately. The money wasn’t in the budget, but if we want to defeat Ron Johnson and flip this Senate seat blue, we need to take some big risks.

Getting Sarah’s message in front of as many Wisconsin voters as possible is the most important thing we can do to win this race. And I felt good about making a tough call like this because I knew that if we asked, you’d step up to help fill the budget hole we created by going up on TV early — and many of you did. Big time.

The problem is, it wasn’t enough to fill the gap. We still have about 17% left to go to keep our ads running in Wisconsin. So, I’m hoping you can step up right now — for Sarah, for the team, and for those who deserve a better U.S. Senator than Ron Johnson.

Please consider making a contribution before our first FEC fundraising deadline of the year to help us close this gap in our budget. I’m counting on our top supporters — you! — to keep us on TV so we can compete with Ron Johnson on the airwaves.
