John, Joe Manchin is blocking legislation that would improve the lives of working families. And the Squad knew it from the very beginning — that’s why AOC, Cori, Jamaal, Rashida, Ilhan, and Ayanna voted AGAINST the Democratic establishment in order to try to save progressive priorities in the Build Back Better Act.

One of the cornerstone policies Democrats passed last year was the expanded Child Tax Credit. Now, because corporate Democrats trusted Joe Manchin, the tax credit expired, child poverty spiked, and there’s no real signs that the credit can be revived.

AOC, Cori, Jamaal, Rashida, Ilhan, and Ayanna all urged Democrats to make sure Manchin couldn’t pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill WITHOUT also passing Build Back Better. The Squad even voted against the establishment. But the corporate Democratic Party went with Manchin’s plan anyway.

And now the core social and economic reforms of the Democratic Party agenda are (still) being blocked by Joe Manchin. All leading up to critical midterm elections.
