I'm Arizona Senator Wendy Rogers, the nationwide advocate for election integrity.
And I'm frustrated there's so much left to do- but I can't do it without you.
On Monday, Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel announced she will resign from her position at the end of the week. This comes after weeks of scrutiny over her leadership of one of the nation’s largest prosecutorial teams.
Her time as county attorney comes to an end amid questions from her leadership team about her sobriety and absences from office.
Arizona Republic investigative reporter Robert Anglen recently noted that 180 cases fell apart because of procedural failures in the office.
Adel's impending departure means there will be a special election to replace her, and not a lot of time to qualify to run. Julie Gunnigle, who ran against Adel as a Democrat in 2020, is working to collect signatures to run, as is Republican Anni Foster.
The Arizona Republic shines a light on a big problem. The County Attorney is deeply involved in the funny business with the County Supervisors.
This job isn't done. There's more information kept by Maricopa County. The Attorney General has not acted. And we have not decertified Arizona's electors.
