This week, I had the honor of presiding over Judge Jackson’s Supreme Court nomination hearing. She carried herself with grace, humility, and dignity. And she was thoughtful and forthright in her responses.

The next step is for our Committee to discuss and vote on Judge Jackson’s nomination, followed by a full Senate vote. I will continue to keep you updated on this process.

In the meantime, I also want to thank you. Without supporters like you, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans would be leading this process.

You hardly need me to remind you that the last time we had a Supreme Court vacancy under a Democratic president, McConnell refused to hold even a single hearing. 

And despite calling himself the “Grim Reaper” of the Senate and blocking progress on nearly every bill, he rushed through Federalist Society-approved Trump judges to remake our federal judiciary. 

Since becoming Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, we have made huge strides in appointing judges who will balance the bench and who share our values. But our work is far from over.
