Chairman Kyle Hupfer (back row, second from right), Whitley Yates (front
row, first from left) and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna
McDaniel (front row, third from right) pose with the inaugural class of
the Republican Diversity Leadership Series and Gov. Eric Holcomb and
U.S. Senator Todd Young on July 23, 2021.
On Tuesday, Whitley Yates,
our director of diversity and engagement, attended the Republican
National Committee's 2022 Trailblazers Reception in Arlington, Va., to
receive the "Emerging Leader" award.

Whitley was hired in Dec. 2019
as a continuation of the commitment I made at the 2018 Indiana
Republican Party State Convention to grow and diversify our party, not
only in our membership, but in our leadership too. Since then, she has
helped make this a reality in numerous ways, including through the
nationally-recognized Indiana Republican Diversity Leadership Series.
In my mind, there was perhaps no one more deserving of this award than
Whitley. She has played an integral role in helping us build coalitions
and authentic relationships among diverse communities, and in the
process, has helped empower the next generation of government,
political, and civic leaders.

Our party will continue to grow, will
continue to bring more Hoosiers into the fold, and will continue to give
a voice to those who have been left behind by tired Democrat policies
and politics.

Congrats again, Whitley, on this well-deserved honor!

Governor Holcomb's Week That WasSigning HEA
1314 Last Friday, Gov. Holcomb was joined by members of American Legion
Post 510 for the signing of HEA 1314, a bill that streamlines policies
of our state's National Guard Reserve and supports our state's first
responders.

In part, the bill allows the Adjutant General to adopt
rules, policies, and regulations for the Indiana Guard Reserve and
requires the Indiana Guard Reserve to operate in a similar fashion to
other units under the Adjutant General’s command.

Additionally, the
bill establishes the first responder crisis intervention account within
the statewide 9-8-8 trust fund to award grants to public safety agencies
that provide first responder emergency services.
 Presenting Rex
Early with a "Sagamore of the Wabash" Award On Monday, Gov. Holcomb
presented Rex Early, a former Chairman of the Indiana Republican Party
and state legislator, with a "Sagamore of the Wabash" award.
 Constitutional Carry Signed Into Law
Thanks to the leadership of
Republicans in the legislature and Gov. Holcomb, the right of
law-abiding Hoosiers to carry a handgun has been reaffirmed.

On
Monday, Gov. Holcomb signed HEA 1296 into law, meaning that Hoosiers
will no longer be required to acquire a permit in order to carry a
handgun. Indiana will join 23 other states with similar laws, including
Vermont, which has had a constitutional carry law in place since it
became a state.

The law takes effect July 1, 2022.

 New
NRCC Poll Shows Republicans on Track to Retire Nancy Pelosi
On
Wednesday, the [link removed] National Republican Congressional
Committee (NRCC) released its latest battleground poll (which includes
Indiana's 1st Congressional District, currently held by Democrat Frank
Mrvan) confirming Democrats are facing an increasingly challenging
political environment.

The key takeaways:
Joe Biden’s approval
rating continues to worsen, Republicans continue to expand their lead
on the generic ballot, and a significant majority of voters believe
Democrats are “out of touch” and “condescending.” Cost of living and
jobs/economy top the list of concerns for battleground voters,
Republicans have a massive advantage with voters who have economic
concerns, and battleground voters blame Democrats for higher prices.
Battleground voters overwhelmingly support Republicans who are focused
on addressing Democrat-created crises. You can read more
