This morning I want to share with you two issues: 1) an opportunity to help the Ukrainian people, and 2) our next endorsement as part of our reelection campaign, Janeth Valenzuela.

One of Arlington's sister cities is the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk. Former County Board Members Jay Fisette and Chris Zimmerman have both shared with me how important their visits and connections are to them. The current County Board is engaging to help as well. The Arlington Sister City Association is co-sponsoring an event at Northside Social this Sunday to raise funds for our Ukrainian sister city of Ivano-Frankivsk:
We're asking for donations to Let Ukraine Win, ([link removed]) a vetted humanitarian organization formed on the 4th day of Russia's war against Ukraine addressing the urgent needs of defenders and populations in the most affected cities and areas. LUW has established a humanitarian hub in Ivano-Frankivsk and transit operations near the Polish border and in the city of Lviv, all collecting supplies for the frontline and civilians.

I hope you will consider making a donation and attending the fundraiser if you are able. Your support will help the people of Ivano-Frankivsk fight for their freedom. I also want to share with you our next endorsement this morning--Janeth Valenzuela--a leader on affordable housing and education who worked hard to advocate for change at the Serrano, the apartment building that I have written to you about before.

I'm as proud of Janeth's support as any I've received: no issue was more important to equity and my work as Chair last year. Because of her work, Arlington families in the Serrano have better living conditions. I am honored to continue working with her to help make our community more fair and just.
