The Congressional Progressive Caucus recently released a slate of more than 50 executive actions for President Biden to pursue. Included in their proposal are actions to advance immigrants’ rights and stop the mass detention and deportation of undocumented people.

Since obstructionist Republicans in Congress have shown NO interest in passing legislation to protect our communities, we’ve been calling on Democrats and President Biden to do whatever it takes to bypass the deadlock.
Our progressive allies in Congress agree, which is why they’ve introduced a comprehensive agenda of executive orders for President Biden to implement.
Their slate of executive actions include efforts to:
- End the use of Remain in Mexico (MPP) and Title 42 expulsions
Designate or re-designate Temporary Protected Status for people already present in the United States
- Stop the expansion of private prisons to detain immigrants and terminate or decline renewal of all current private prison contracts
- End all 287(g) agreements, which deputize state and local law enforcement officers to perform certain functions of federal immigration agents
- Raise wages and improve labor safeguards and protections so that employers can
no longer use the H-2B visa program to underpay and exploit workers
This is only the beginning — and we won’t stop holding Democrats accountable until they deliver on these solutions and more.
