Friend – former President Donald Trump is expected to make an appearance in Michigan as the primaries heat up. He has endorsed Republican Matthew DePerno to be the state’s next Attorney General after DePerno described him as “the greatest president in modern history” at a Mar-a-Lago fundraiser last month.
This endorsement will be the first time Trump heads back to Michigan since 2020, and it shows us that we need to double down if we’re going to make sure Dem AG Dana Nessel is reelected. Michiganders deserve someone who will fight for their communities, just like AG Nessel does.
Trump’s impending visit to Michigan tells us that the state is still on their priority list, just like ours. Trump’s pick, DePerno, believes that Trump is still the leader of the Republican Party. That means, if elected, DePerno will adopt far-right policies to please Trump and his base.
This is why it’s essential we reelect Dem AG Nessel in November. She stands up for Michigan’s families by protecting reproductive rights, defending our elections, and addressing climate change.
