In the latest news, the deportations of those who enter the country illegally dropped 70% during fiscal year 2021 — to an all-time agency low.
This jaw dropping fact proves that the Biden administration’s policies are encouraging people to bypass our immigration system and allowing those flooding into our country illegally to stay here. This is a matter of national security that is continuously being ignored by the White House.
Immigration is critical for our country. Welcoming people from around the world to come and pursue the American dream is part of our nation’s DNA.
But we must have a functioning, transparent and lawful system so that the people who enter our country can be properly welcomed into it, and become a part of our great country and contribute to our communities legally.
Currently, many people who enter the country illegally are released soon after being apprehended, and travel throughout the U.S. Worse, migrants aren’t held to the same health status restrictions and requirements before release — i.e. proof of negative COVID test — that government requires of U.S. citizens reentering by air, even those who are fully vaccinated.
A just and fair immigration system begins with a safe and secure border.
