Hello John! We just wanted to send a friendly reminder that the National Rural Strategy Session is tomorrow – Saturday, March 26th at 9 am PT / Noon ET.
Rural Vote and Rural Organizing will be bringing together the nation’s leading rural organizers for a robust discussion about how we can move the needle in rural communities in the 2022 election. We believe it’s important for rural organizers to share, learn and connect with each other as we work to get out the vote in rural areas.
In recent elections, it’s clear that Democrats are losing support in rural areas. Democrats got crushed in rural areas in the 2020 election and in the 2021 special election in Virginia. Republicans are out-organizing us at the state and local level, and now control the majority of state legislatures.
Make no mistake: the restrictive state laws on voting rights to reproductive rights all incubate at the state level before they make their way to the Supreme Court. That’s why it’s critical that we invest in rural organizing at the state and local level and ensure that Democrats do not write off rural areas as un-winnable.
