Friend,
I’m Representative David Cicilline, of Rhode Island’s 1st congressional district. When I was elected as Mayor of Providence years ago, I was the first openly gay elected mayor of a state capital in the country. Later when I was sworn in as a United States Representative, I became only the fourth openly gay member of Congress. We’ve come so far since then — introducing the Defense Against Marriage Act which legalized Gay marriage, co-sponsoring the Gay and Trans Panic Defense Prohibition Act in 2018, and passing the Equality Act in the House in 2019.
Sometimes being the first is just the beginning of the story.
Now as co-chair of Equality PAC, it is my honor to support LGBTQ+ candidates across the country achieving their own set of firsts. When Clay Aiken is elected to represent North Carolina, he will make history as the first openly gay member of Congress representing the South. But Clay doesn’t just provide representation for LGBTQ+ folks across the South, he’s got plans to fight for equality as well — for all Americans. But we need your help.
Clay’s End of Quarter filing deadline is on Thursday, can you chip in $13 to help fuel this historic campaign?

Becoming a first was only the start of my journey. Since then, I’ve been honored to help and advocate for families across the country (LGBTQ+ and otherwise). I can only imagine the good that Clay will do once he becomes the first.
I’m ready for Clay to make history, but we have to get him across the finish line first.
Can I count on you to donate $13 right now, before his End of Quarter filing deadline hits?

Thank you,
Congressman David Cicilline
