After sitting down and talking with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, I feel confident in her abilities to serve honorably and impartially on the Supreme Court and am proud to give her my full support.
I will be voting to confirm when her nomination comes to a vote, and urge my Senate colleagues to do the same.
What’s become clear to me, through our conversation and through following her confirmation hearings, is that Judge Jackson holds a steadfast commitment to equality under the law. She decides cases not based on personal ideology, but the facts in front of her.
I’ve been so impressed with her legal experience, qualifications, and temperament in the face of baseless attacks, and — because of all this — know she will make an excellent Supreme Court Justice.
This is a historic moment for our country. It is my hope that, recognizing Judge Jackson’s immense qualifications, my colleagues can put away partisan games and give her a swift and bipartisan confirmation.
