Friends,

This year, Republican-controlled state legislatures across the country have introduced more than 100 anti-LGBTQ+ bills. Unfortunately, we’re no stranger to discriminatory legislation like this here in North Carolina.

But recently, we had an important win for equality in our state. Earlier this month, the NC Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling that said victims of domestic violence in same-sex relationships have a constitutional right to protective orders to keep them safe, even though a state law said otherwise.

Josh and his team filed a brief with the Court arguing that the original statute violated people's right to equal protection guaranteed by our state's Constitution.

It doesn't matter who you are — every person in North Carolina deserves to be treated equally under the law and to be safe from abuse. Josh will always fight to ensure that LGBTQ+ North Carolinians can live their lives free from discrimination.

But too many Republican officials in our state want to denigrate certain people and divide us, undoing all of the progress we have fought so hard for.

Will you add your name to our petition and stand against the anti-LGTBQ+ efforts being waged across the country? By adding your name, you’re helping make a statement that we will fight hate here in North Carolina: [[link removed]]

Thank you for standing with Josh and helping him move North Carolina forward.
