Ay-UpMarket is three days of independent shopping, entertainment and fun.

While the event is a celebration of Nottingham's independent traders today, both physical and online, the event also recognises the heritage of Nottingham’s markets; with mentions of a market from the 12th Century on Old Market Square, and Sneinton Market Avenues heritage as a wholesale fruit, flower, vegetable, fish, game and poultry merchant.

Check out the website for lists of the stalls you will be able to browse and the different food and drink you will be able to sample as well as the themed-entertainment planned for each day.

Why not travel to the market by bus? To celebrate this brand new event, Nottingham City Transport is offering £1 off a GroupRider 25-27 March so "pay £5 instead of the usual £6". This covers up to 5 people, where there has to be at least 1 adult (aged 19 or over) and no more than two adults.

Those travelling by car can take advantage of a "ÂŁ5 per session offer" at the Broad Marsh Car Park - valid from 10am Friday until Sunday at 7pm - accepted on tap in tap out or ticket transactions only.

The Ay-Up Market (11am - 5pm) on Saturday, is part of the city-wide event.

Follow the arrows from Old Market Square to visit a range of over 30 stalls and food options. There are bakers, jewellers, printers, even brewers and distillers waiting to show you all their amazing produce.

All the retail business will also be open on the Avenues including the Brazilian Culture Centre which will be hosting free Capoeira classes at 2pm and Samba classes at 3pm. Plus there’ll be a Brazilian Carnival Fancy Dress Party from 4pm to 8pm.

Alongside the market stalls, the event includes a full programme of live music and other street entertainers.

The entertainment nods to the city's history of market trading

Friday: make your way through a honey-perfumed bee colony, grab some gardening advice from The Strolling Gardeners, or meet the Vegetable Nannies on a day trip with their family of little ones. 

Saturday: the theme turns fishy, with a chance to explore a whale’s belly, meet a mermaid as well as encountering a giant lobster, octopuses, dancing prawns, and deep-sea divers.

Sunday: the city’s makers and creators are celebrated through poetry, live music and giant colouring wall.

Over 50 employers will be coming along with collectively 1,500 job vacancies between them.

Roles include retail, public transport, healthcare, emergency services, hospitality and marketing.

After two years of Covid-related cancellations, the Council is pleased to announce the intention, with the Showmen’s Guild to stage a ten-day Goose Fair this year.

Currently in early stages of planning, they are working with the Guild and city partners to ensure the fair can be delivered safely and with the minimum of increased impact.

The Council is committed to making the return of this much-loved event a success for Nottingham residents, and visitors alike.

Splendour 2022 is bouncing back bigger and better with double the stage time. The line-up for Nottinghamshire’s biggest music festival has grown yet again...

Chart-topping rapper "Example, "British soul singer "Heather Small, "and rock band "We Are Scientists "are joining the bill, plus "Coach Party, Aaron Smith, The Skinner Brothers" and over 20 rising stars from the local music scene.

Meadowlands has revealed the support line up to the Gerry Cinnamon headlined festival taking place on the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

Some of the nation’s much loved and established live acts will play alongside some of the hottest bands to emerge over the last year. 

Already a legendary live performer, "Gerry Cinnamon"’s gigs have become folklore – joyous mass fan singalongs inspiring devotion and a dedicated following that has swelled, via word-of-mouth, to epic proportions.

The line-up includes indie stalwarts "The Kooks", Liverpool’s "The Mysterines" whose debut album "‘Reeling’" went top 10 in the UK album charts this week, Yorkshire breakout band "The Reytons" and festival favourites "Black Honey".

Meadowlands, is a new event series from live promoters FKP Scorpio, and will feature a variety of music acts across multiple stages with its sights set on becoming one of the biggest music events to ever take place in the city.
