March 2022
Dear Friends,

We are honored to share Identity’s Response to COVID-19, a report of our work from the onset of the pandemic on March 16, 2020 to March 15, 2022.  Thank you for being our partner.

Over two years, we worked with community members to shape and implement Identity’s response as well as the response of local government and philanthropy. Working hand in hand, students, parents, staff, board members and friends of Identity showed up in new ways to weave together a safety net to catch more than 60,000 neighbors whose health, mental health, work and schooling were threatened.

Because recovery is slower and more challenging for neighbors who were already struggling before the pandemic, we remain focused on helping our community achieve a sustained recovery from the devastating economic and social consequences of the pandemic which exacerbated pre-existing inequities and vulnerabilities. This includes working with Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College and Universities at Shady Grove to accelerate school and training opportunities that can reverse learning loss and redress pre-existing opportunity gaps widened by the crisis.

We thank each and every friend who supported or joined us in providing lifesaving safety net services, emergency assistance and caring human connections to stave off hunger, homelessness, illness and despair in tens of thousands of youth and families across Montgomery County while keeping young people engaged in their education, older youth in their work skills development, and parents equipped to help them.

Thank you again for being with us on this journey.  We are moved by your steady show of care and support and inspired by the community’s ability to help each other.

Un abrazo fuerte,
La Familia Identity
A very special thank you to Montgomery County government, especially the Latino Health Initiative’s Por Nuestra Salud y Bienestar and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Emergency Assistance Relief Payment program and to Identity’s business and organizational friends who made critical contributions to support the community.
