Dear John, Next week is the beginning of Ramadan. As the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan is sacred to Muslims around the world who spend daylight hours abstaining from food and drink in order to remind themselves of those less fortunate than them and to give to those in need. Yemen is home to millions of Muslims who are on the brink of famine as I write this. CODEPINK is raising $20,000 to feed families in Yemen this Ramadan. Can you hep us reach our goal? Today is an important day. It marks seven years since the war and blockade on Yemen began. Saudi Arabia, with diplomatic cover from the United States has only allowed one fuel ship to go into Yemen this year. Fuel shortages mean the hospitals treating Yemeni children for malnutrition risk losing power. The situation is dire and so many countries around the world are complicit. This will be Yemen's seventh Ramadan under siege. Giving to charity is an important element of Ramadan. You can join us in participating in this Islamic tradition by donating what you can to support vulnerable families in Yemen. Help us break the blockade and feed families in Yemen, donate here! We are so honored to be partnering with Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, a Yemeni founded and led organization that has been distributing food baskets and other aid in Yemen for years. On average Yemen Relief's food baskets can feed a family of 6 for one month for about $50 and Ramadan baskets include dates and powdered milk. Making a donation today can help bring some relief to Yemenis during an important time of the year. Help us reach our goal by forwarding this email to a few friends to donate as well! Onwards towards
peace, |
