Dear Colorado Republicans,
Last week, we asked you to contact Democrat legislators and Jena Griswold to demand that they remove Section 8 from SB153. Section 8 would have violated our First Amendment rights. It gave partisan hack Jena Griswold and the state government the right to decide which statements are true and which ones are false.
This is a power the government should never be allowed to weaponize against a free people.
When we asked, you responded. Republicans all across the state -- including elected officials, grassroots activists, and candidates -- piled on to tell the Democrats they can't take our rights away.
Today, Boulder Democrat Stephen Fenberg, Majority Leader of the Colorado Senate, finally CAVED.
As CPR's Bente Birkland reports:

It's disturbing that Fenberg is "sad" to be removing a section of a proposed law that he even acknowledges is "unenforceable." Why? Because it's unconstitutional.
But friends, this is what happens when we speak up and refuse to relent. SB153 is still full of inappropriate provisions that take away local control from local elections officials. It's still designed to centralize election control with Jena Griswold. And we all know what she does with control -- she weaponizes it and continues to behave as the partisan hack she is.
The fight isn't over. We have many election integrity fights that we still must win.
It's critical that we must unite to kick Jena Griswold out of office.
Thank you for stepping up, for speaking out, let's continue fighting to protect local control in our elections.
