In a moment, I'm going to ask you to contribute to my campaign before our first end-of-quarter deadline of 2022, but first, I want to let you know why I first chose to run for Congress.

I never imagined I'd run for office, John.

When I was sixteen years old, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I always had a love for science, and my experience managing my diabetes and all the time I spent in doctors’ offices helped lead me to a career as a pediatrician.

For sixteen years, I served thousands of families in Issaquah as a doctor. I loved my patients and my work. Running for office was never in my "life plan."

But throughout my career, I saw firsthand how important access to quality, affordable health care was for my patients. That's why when my own representative voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, that was the final straw for me.

So, I packed up my office and left the job I love to run for Congress. I had a sense that I could do more good for more children and families in Washington's 8th District from a seat in the House of Representatives than I ever could in the 4 walls of my exam room.

I knew it wasn't going to be easy – no Democrat had ever represented Washington's 8th District before. But folks from all across the district came together to join me because they believed in what I was fighting for: affordable health care, a clean environment, education, and so much more. In fact, many of the people who joined me to knock doors and get out the vote were my patients and their families! It was incredible and heartwarming.

Thanks to grassroots supporters like you, we flipped Washington's 8th District blue for the first time ever in 2018 and kept it blue in 2020.

Since coming to Congress, I have been focused on fighting for the issues that matter most to you, me, and all the families I served as a pediatrician.

We've accomplished so much over the past three years, but there's more work ahead of us. That's why I'm running for re-election this November. But protecting my seat won't be easy. National Republicans have named this district a top target and election experts are saying this race will be a "toss-up." That’s alarming when there is so much at stake in this election.

We're facing our first FEC end-of-quarter deadline of 2022 in just a few days, and we set an ambitious online fundraising goal to ensure we have the resources to defend my seat and our Democratic House majority. I don't accept a dime of corporate PAC money, so I can't get there without your support.

Will you chip in $5 or more before our first FEC end-of-quarter fundraising deadline of the election year? Together, we can keep this seat blue and continue making progress for the 8th District.

Thank you,

Kim

To hold the House majority, we must re-elect Rep. Kim Schrier in WA-08. Will you chip in to protect Kim's seat and the Democratic House majority in 2022?
