Animals shouldn’t have to endure life on a factory farm — crammed together in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, often unable to feel the grass under their feet or engage in their natural behaviors. Animals don’t belong on factory farms.Join our campaign to ban factory farming once and for all – donate now.
Life for a cow on a factory farm is grueling. Dairy cows on factory farms live in congested conditions where they are often left to stand on their own excrement, or fed unnatural diets to force excessive milk production. It’s unconscionable, and Big Ag is pushing – and states have even passed – laws that ban documentation of abuses on factory farms.
For generations, small and mid-sized farms reliably fed people and cared for the environment and animals. But factory farms upended this relationship. Today, legal and policy failures have allowed a handful of giant corporations to place a stranglehold on our food system.
Food & Water Watch is fighting to change this. But in order to change the fundamental structure of our food system, we need to organize, speak out and rally across the country — all to protect the environment, communities and animals from the cruelties of factory farms.
We’re fighting in support of a food system that is healthy, sustainable and equitable – one that builds rural communities, values workers and respects consumers. But it’s going to take building pressure of all kinds to ban factory farms and transition existing ones to sustainable, diversified farms. We can’t do it without your support, John.
Food & Water Watch and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Action, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
