Today is the fourth anniversary of the first March For Our Lives in Washington. After the devastating Parkland shooting in Florida, young people across our nation stood up and demanded better from their leaders, calling on Congress to finally take action on gun violence.
Our students deserve to feel safe at school, full stop. We can, and we must, do whatever it takes to protect our kids, our schools, and our communities from gun violence.
I’m proud to announce that my
STANDUP Act was signed into law this month. This critical piece of legislation will provide schools with evidence-based suicide prevention and awareness training to help students and educators identify warning signs and intervene when students are at risk of harming themselves or others.
The STANDUP Act is important – but this is just beginning. Congress must pass legislation to address the gun violence epidemic and keep our students safe at school and in their communities. Add your name if you agree:
From Columbine and Virginia Tech to Parkland and Sandy Hook – enough is enough. It’s time to ensure every student can feel safe going to school. Thanks for standing with me on this important issue.
