Today marks the fourth anniversary of the March for Our Lives, where students all across our nation stood up and demanded action on gun violence in the wake of the devastating shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Every day, gun violence strikes at the core of who we are as a nation — leaving countless lives lost and communities never the same.
Here in Washington State, we’ve led the fight for gun violence prevention, passing landmark gun safety legislation at the ballot box and in our state legislature. We’ve seen an unsettling lack of action from Congress. Our nation must stand up to the NRA so we can keep our communities safe from gun violence.
Four years ago, we marched. Now it’s time for bold, national action. Add your name and demand Congress pass strong gun safety legislation to protect our kids and our schools:
Washingtonians like you made their voices heard at the ballot box by passing Initiatives 1491 and 1693 — which established red flag laws, expanded background checks and extended waiting periods for gun purchases.
While the Washington Senate has delivered on public safety measures like the ban on high capacity magazines and the crack down on “ghost guns,” we know too many of our communities still reel from the impact of gun violence. Devastating shootings across our nation still dominate the news every day. Enough is enough — the lives of our friends, neighbors, and kids are on the line.
Four years ago, young leaders stood up and demanded better from all of us. Leaders here in Washington State have answered the call – and now we need Congress to do the same. Add your name to our petition if you agree:
Thanks for taking action.
