Friend –

You and I both know we're facing some tough challenges right now.

Opponents of civil liberties are pushing a wave of coordinated bills and attacks across the states to restrict access to abortion, prevent transgender youth from receiving gender-affirming health care, block our right to vote, and ban books and censor teachers from discussing race, gender, and other truths about America's history in the classroom.

But here's what you and I must never forget: The ACLU was made for moments like this. We know there is always a way to fight back – and when we do, we not only strengthen our democracy, we positively impact millions of people's lives.

ACLU Supporter, the ACLU's new fiscal year starts on April 1. In order for us to take on such immense challenges, we have to be ready at our full fighting power now. To help meet this moment, we’re asking committed ACLU supporters like you to help us reach our fiscal year-end goal of $500,000.

Donate before the March 31 deadline and help the ACLU continue to play a central role in responding to vicious assaults on civil liberties all across the nation throughout this critical election year.

ACLU member, D.A., quoted at the beginning of this email is right: Whenever challenges to people's fundamental freedoms arise, you can count on us to be there.

With our on-the-ground presence in all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico, we're responding to the challenges of this critical year in state legislatures, in the courts, and in the streets. And, with your support, we're winning some important victories:

* Earlier this year, the Ohio Supreme Court rejected a redistricting proposal that diluted the power of Black voters in our case challenging the state's newly drawn maps

* ACLU litigation helped block dangerous anti-transgender laws in Tennessee and West Virginia – and our ongoing case in Texas also continues in the fight to protect trans youth and their families from unlawful and harmful investigations

* We've prevented abortion bans from going forward in multiple states throughout the country including Arizona, Arkansas, and Oklahoma

But, with the elections mere months away and politically-motivated attacks on our freedoms being fast-tracked you can be sure that the flood of state by state attacks on people's rights will keep coming – and will likely even increase. We urgently need your help to respond swiftly and decisively to this assault on our freedoms.

Keep fighting. Make your generous fiscal year-end gift to the ACLU right away and help us meet our $500,000 goal.

This is a pivotal year for civil liberties and for our country. And while there's a lot that we can't predict, here's one thing I can promise you: If we act together, we can – and we will – help our country live up to its promise of liberty and justice for all.

Thanks for working with us,

Deborah Archer
