Coming off of Greg Casar's win and Jessica Cisneros's advance to the runoff in Texas, we're excited to endorse three more Green New Deal champions for Congress: Summer Lee (PA-12), Nida Allam (NC-04), and Erica Smith (NC-01).

These endorsements are part of Sunrise's long-term strategy of harnessing progressive energy to build youth organizing infrastructure in strategic states while electing Green New Deal champions in the primary. We're excited to tell you more about these amazing candidates — but before we do, we have to ask: Can you split a contribution of $10 or any amount between Summer's campaign, Nida's campaign, Erica's campaign, and Sunrise to help build the organizing power we'll need to send them to Congress? As an activist and state legislator hailing from Southwestern Pennsylvania, Summer Lee has won sustainable jobs, environmental justice, police accountability, and more for her constituents. In Congress, she's ready to fight for a Green New Deal to transition to a 100% clean and renewable energy economy — including ending fracking, which poses a disproportionate threat to communities like hers.

Elected Durham County Commissioner in 2020, Nida Allam became the first Muslim woman to hold office in North Carolina. Since then, she's used her position to fight to raise the minimum wage for county employees and provide tax relief to low-income members of her community. In Congress, she's ready to fight for a Green New Deal that meets the scale of the climate crisis.

Erica Smith is a former state legislator, educator, minister, and mother who represented one of the most economically distressed State Senate districts in North Carolina hit hard by storms and floods that took too many lives. Erica understands that with a Rural New Deal, we can take on the economic crisis in this country and the climate crisis in this world by creating millions of new jobs and building the energy system of the future.

In the general election, these candidates will make a strong contrast with corporate-backed Republicans by exposing the corruption and greed we've seen from the GOP for years now. And the work we do right now will help Democrats hold onto their majority this fall.

We're ready to get to work — but what we’re able to accomplish depends on Sunrise supporters like you. Split a $10 contribution between Summer's campaign, Erica's campaign, Nida's campaign, and Sunrise to help us elect more Green New Deal champions to Congress in 2022. [[link removed]]
