Dear John,
Senator Rick Scott (FL), who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee and is responsible for helping elect Republicans to the Senate, released a plan last week that could effectively terminate Social Security and Medicare.
Specifically, his proposal would require Congress to reauthorize Social Security and Medicare every five years. So a future Congress could choose not to renew these programs. Another part of his disastrous plan would make all Americans — including retirees — pay some income taxes because he wants them to have more “skin in the game.” (Never mind that more than 80% of those age 75 or older have no federal income tax liability because they are retired.)
Incredibly, Senator Scott believes his plan to “Rescue America” will pick up a lot of support among his fellow GOP colleagues in the Senate and the American public. According to Senator Scott, “Americans deserve to know what we will do when given the chance to govern.”
And now that we know, let’s ensure your U.S. Senators hear what you really think about Senator Scott’s plan for America. Please sign our Urgent Petition today and help us ensure the views of America’s largest voting bloc is heard loud and clear during this uncertain time for your earned benefits.
Sincerely,
|
