Providing tools to help our community run for office is an integral step in our mission to enhance the Muslim and BIPOC communities' organizational and political skills. Our goal is to help navigate, and eventually remove, the barriers our community faces when deciding to run for office. After all, our democracy only works when all can participate at every level of civic engagement! We hope to continue growing this event in the coming years. Stay connected and keep a lookout for supplemental training events and surveys in the future! |
Last night, we made history in Dearborn!
The Dearborn City Council endorsed a resolution to offer translated ballots and election materials - which will make voting more accessible. Here in Dearborn, diversity is our greatest strength. With 52% of residents in our city speaking a different language at home, this resolution was both needed and long overdue.
Over the past year, Emgage Michigan has worked on this initiative we are proud to see it passed!
We want to say a special thank you to our endorsees, Councilman Mustapha Hammoud and Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, for their leadership in championing this issue. We are grateful for your work and dedication to our community.
This is the change and progress we need to see in our communities, these are the leaders that make it! |
