Pledge to refuse jobs at Google & Amazon Dear Email, Last year, in collaboration with 50 prominent human rights and social justice organizations, we launched the #NoTechForApartheid campaign! Now more than ever, we need your help to ensure its success. As the Israeli military dropped bombs on Gaza in May 2021, Amazon and Google signed a $1.2 billion contract to provide cloud services to the Israeli military and government. Through the Project Nimbus contract, Amazon and Google are strengthening Israel’s military occupation and apartheid rule over Palestinians, as such tech could be used to further surveil Palestinians, expand illegal settlements, and inflict violence on Palestinians in Gaza. Over 1,000 Amazon and Google workers made history by joining together to call on their respective companies to cut Project Nimbus and sever ties with the Israeli military, saying loudly and clearly: Tech workers do not want their labor used to violate Palestinian human rights. Amazon and Google pour millions into recruiting top talent to continue growing their profits. These companies rely on the labor of young researchers, programmers, marketers, and engineers to remain competitive—and particularly want to recruit BIPOC undergraduate and graduate students to project the image of progressivism and diversity. Students have the power to stop Amazon and Google from enabling Israeli apartheid by refusing to take internships or jobs with these companies until they drop Project Nimbus. We've attached a digital toolkit here that includes graphics, sample posts, and all the information you'll need. Here's how you can help! 1) Take the #NoTechForApartheid Pledge and share it across social media platforms! 2) Urge student groups on campus to post about it too! Share this digital toolkit with them and maybe even forward this email for more information. 3) Do you have access to an organizational listserv? Share this campaign with them and let's make the #NoTechForApartheid campaign go viral. |
