On May 24 — exactly two months from today — Jessica Cisneros will be facing her second Election Day this year: a run-off election against one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress, Henry Cuellar, to represent Texas' 28th District in the House of Representatives.
Jamaal is proud to be the first sitting member of the House to endorse Jessica Cisneros back in December. He's also proud to continue supporting Jessica as she faces Cuellar in the run-offs, because he knows what a critical addition she will be to our coalition in Congress and how dangerous Henry Cuellar is.
Henry Cuellar has spent the last 17 years voting with Republicans. He also has strong ties to anti-choice organizations and ultra-wealthy Republican donors — which, given his voting record, is no surprise. Before Jessica ran against him last year, he voted with Trump 70% of the time.
Cuellar spent over $2 million trying to fend off Jess and our movement so far this cycle — but in March, we showed him that our movement is stronger than ever. And if we can continue growing our momentum for Jess, we will win and our progressive coalition will grow.
This race is for our taking. And we're ready to oust Henry Cuellar for Jessica Cisneros, who will actually fight for the people in Congress.
