We need to help families afford childcare now more than ever.

Dear friend,

One of the best parts of my day is walking my 14-month old son to daycare. Knowing that our son is in good hands while my wife and I work is something that we are grateful for every day.

All families deserve access to affordable and safe childcare. That’s why in this year’s state budget I’m fighting for a historic $4.1 billion expansion of childcare infrastructure that will lay the groundwork for universal childcare, a crucial piece of our social safety net that families need as we emerge from the pandemic.

I am fighting to make universal child care a reality in New York. Will you sign my petition today to share your support?

Childcare is an economic development issue, and it is the biggest issue facing working families right now. According to a December 2020 report from the Citizens Committee for Children, the annual cost of center-based child care for infants and toddlers consumes roughly ⅓ of a family’s household income in New York. In New York City specifically, a shocking 93% of working families can’t afford the average cost of childcare at all.

Sign our petition and help ensure that working families get the childcare they need!

We can keep working families in New York with universal child care. Budgets are about priorities, and I’ve made it clear to my colleagues in Albany that this is a top priority for me. The issue of childcare can’t wait – it’s critical to our economic recovery and most importantly, the future of our children.

Working towards a better future for working families,

Andrew
