John --
Last week, the Supreme Court began hearing arguments for a case that could threaten DACA recipients — young immigrants brought to the United States as children, call this country their home, yet lack true citizenship under the law. In light of this worrying development, I want to take a moment to reiterate my support for this program and those impacted by it.
California is home to nearly 250,000 young people protected by DACA. Many are students building a brighter future. Others are working hard and contribute to our economy as entrepreneurs and professionals.
These young people are our friends, neighbors, and peers. Standing with them isn’t just the right thing to do morally -- it’s the right choice to keep our economy strong. It’s estimated that Dreamers contribute $42 billion in annual GDP, and that number will only grow over time.
Dreamers are a part of our American fabric and their hard work makes our country stronger every day. Now, they need our support against those who would revoke their status and threaten their futures:
Please join me in solidarity with our Dreamers. Add your name to say they deserve legal status in this country >>
In Washington, I look forward to working on a comprehensive immigration deal that is sensible and fair. In the meantime, it’s critical that we speak out on this important issue. Join me. Let’s make sure Dreamers are given the legal status they deserve and a pathway to citizenship.
Thank you for your support,
Chris Bubser
