John,
Nancy Pelosi just voted to extend the PATRIOT Act, allowing for mass surveillance of U.S. citizens to continue into 2020.
The PATRIOT Act was passed after 9/11 in the name of national security. Among other alarming provisions, it allows for the indefinite detention of immigrants and allows the FBI to search your phone or email without a warrant.
Nearly twenty years after 9/11, the PATRIOT Act enables the concentration camps at our border and surveillance of U.S. citizens who oppose the Trump agenda.
We need a representative who will call the PATRIOT Act what it is—a grave human rights violation.
Through my work with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, I have been fighting against government surveillance my entire life.
I believe that the concentration camps at our border are morally indefensible, and we’ve made closing them a key issue in our campaign.
My opponent’s vote to extend the PATRIOT Act as a part of a modest Congressional spending bill is morally indefensible.
