A recent New York Times article called this redistricting cycle a “rare…bright spot for American democracy.”
The national congressional map is on track to be evenly divided between parties -- thanks to efforts stopping the GOP from doubling down on their 2011 gerrymandering.
But this relatively balanced map isn't a guarantee. A handful of states are still drawing their congressional maps -- and we expect to see more maps redrawn after this year's elections.
Can we count on your support now?

President Obama also said: “If Republicans succeed in gerrymandering maps, we know they'll use them to limit voting rights and obstruct progress.”
How do we know? It’s exactly what they’ve done for the past decade after gerrymandering themselves into power in 2011.
Just look at Ohio. Republicans only won 54% of the statewide vote share over the past decade -- yet their 2011 gerrymandered congressional map gave them 75% of the seats. And they have tried to double down with gerrymandered maps this year that would likely give their party up to about 90% of the seats.
"The fight for fair maps is not over. Even in states where maps were deemed final, voters have sent map drawers back to the drawing board." -- Barack Obama
Ohio is one of the states where we’re proud to have helped voters challenge gerrymandered maps in court -- and win!
But map manipulators aren’t backing down. They’ve drawn multiple gerrymandered congressional and legislative maps -- even though the state has a partisan gerrymandering ban!
President Obama is right -- this fight is not over yet. That’s why we’re asking people to chip in even $1 to show their support today.
