I have a confession: I’m gay.
I know – shocker!
But guess who, for some weird, creepy reason is obsessed with it?
Lauren Boebert.
And that bothers me. You see, lawmakers have been targeting the LGBTQ+ community for years, but with the help of extremists like Boebert, they’re finally breaking through.
Texas has outlawed all gender affirming medical care for transgender teenagers.
In Iowa, their governor just signed a bill banning transgender girls and women from competing in women’s sports.
And right here in Colorado, our own representative is fighting against the Equality Act, a bill that would outlaw discrimination based on sexual orietation and/or gender identity.
She even claims that a law that gives us equal rights encourages the “supremacy of gays.”
This is not a joke. She literally said that.
And when LGBTQ+ kids see this coming out of an elected official's mouth, it’s harmful. They feel scared. They feel isolated. They feel ashamed.
According to the Trevor Project, a young person identifying as LGBTQ+ attempts suicide every 45 seconds. And what Lauren Boebert does makes it worse.
That’s why I’m running against her. Because we deserve leaders who understand what it’s like for people struggling with their identity, mental health, or just coping in such a crazy world.
We deserve leaders with empathy who work hard to solve actual problems facing real Coloradans.
I know it’s tacky… but in order for us to build the team we need to beat Boebert, we’re going to need your help.
