12 Years of the Affordable Care Act

12 years ago, Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act, which has substantially lowered the cost of healthcare for Americans across the country and made it more accessible.

Now, after reducing premiums by 40% through the American Rescue Plan, Democrats are continuing our focus on reducing health care costs like the price of prescription drugs for Americans.

On Monday, Republican Senator Ron Johnson confirmed that Republicans still want to repeal the Affordable Care Act. That would mean that:

  • More than 100 million Americans with pre-existing conditions will lose insurance protections.
  • Americans with private insurance could see their premiums skyrocket.
  • Women could be charged more for their insurance.
  • Health insurance premiums could massively spike.
  • And, 21 million Americans would lose their insurance.

This is why we must keep fighting and keep Colorado Blue in 2022 💙💙💙

Coloradans Standing with Ukraine

Two months ago unprovoked Putin invaded Ukraine, a sovereign nation.  Since that time he has bombed a maternity hospital, and attacked civilians in ceasefire zones leaving more than 3.5 million people displaced, and almost 1000 Ukrainian civilians have died.

In response, Biden and the international community have placed the most severe sanctions on the nation.

And what are we doing locally in Colorado?

Coloradans are stepping up to help support the people of Ukraine in many ways. Whether it's donating money to Project CURE or local police departments from Fremont County to Colorado Springs to Durango and beyond helped collect over 1000 pieces of protective gear to be sent to Ukraine.

Governor Polis posted on instagram:

In the true spirit of Colorado, I am proud that Colorado law enforcement stepped up to support the brave people of Ukraine. We have collected more than 1,000 ballistic helmets and nearly 840 complete sets of surplus body armor from over 25 local law enforcement agencies to send to the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and democracy.

Carol Burkhardt

Carol has been a superstar volunteer for many years and we wanted to take this week to celebrate her 🎉🎉

From Carolyn Boller:

"I frankly don’t remember when I first met Carol….she is a part of the fabric and always there and available.  Carol is a constant—and everyone needs that balance in their lives—Carol provides that stability.

Carol has been and is still ready to jump into a project and use her experience and knowledge to share with others, teach the way to do the task.  She is that “go to” person for working a project. Carol and I worked many of the State Assemblies together—Carol doing the credentials and me doing the Permanent Organization.

This award is long overdue….Carol deserves all the recognition she receives.

A good friend."
