Governors across the country have been the last line of defense against dangerous voting restrictions, bans on reproductive health care, and so much more. Five Dem governors’ races are Toss-Ups, including my race in Michigan.

Our opponents are going to do everything they can to defeat us. Extremists and special interests have already spent millions in Michigan to try and distort my record, and right-wing billionaires – like Betsy Devos – have said they’re fully committed to unseating me next year. And national Republicans just committed more than $31 million to attack me and other Democrats in key battleground states!

Across the country, far-right extremists have passed some of the most restrictive abortion bans we’ve ever seen. But that will not be Michigan’s story.

Team, make no mistake, I will always stand up for reproductive rights. That’s why I’ve called on the Michigan state legislature to repeal a 1931 statute that would criminalize abortion services if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.

We need to double down today to ensure that reproductive rights are protected now and for generations to come. But the only way to do so is to elect pro-choice governors.

Governors are our last line of defense on the most important issues we face – from protecting the right to vote, to investing in public education, to ensuring that reproductive freedoms aren’t erased.
